Transcendental Yoga
Patanjali's Yoga Sutras in light of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's teaching
This website is dedicated to my book, “Transcendental Yoga: Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra In Light of the Teaching of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi,” initially written in Hebrew. I am currently working on its English translation. In the meantime, I’m sharing Knowledge about Yoga here, and I hope you will enjoy it. Once the translation is complete, I plan to distribute it through Amazon. You will find here the link to purchase the book’s digital and printed versions.
Here is the text that appeared on the back sleeve of the book in Hebrew:
“When a mountain climber starts to advance towards the summit, the view he encounters differs from the view available to someone who has already reached the peak. In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali offers the perspective of someone who has reached the summit, describing the view to encourage and guide climbers, sharing his panoramic vision. Reaching the summit can only be achieved in stages; thus, the Sutras outline the stages of yoga development and the experiences a practitioner might encounter from the beginning of practice until attaining a stable state of transcendental consciousness, or Samadhi.”
Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras are regarded as the most significant text in yoga philosophy. In his book Transcendental Yoga, Moti Shefi, a student of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (who introduced Transcendental Meditation to the world), offers a new translation and commentary on the Sutras in light of Maharishi’s Knowledge. Shefi translates from Sanskrit, providing literal and conceptual explanations for each Sutra, and also reviews classical commentaries by Vyasa, Vachaspati Mishra, and Vijnanabhikshu. The book further explores the roots of Yoga in ancient Vedic literature and offers practical advice to help individuals experience the state of Yoga and integrate this experience into daily life
